FLAMING SILVER
img
  • A small, slow-growing evergreen shrub with an upright habit. The leathery, deeply divided leaves emerge bright red and later turn dark green with silvery-white edges.
  • Its young spring shoots, initially pink, gradually turn fiery red, creating a wonderful contrast with the mature foliage. In spring it displays feathery flowers in cascades of long, creamy-white panicles with a slight scent. It grows up to 120cm tall and up to 100cm wide.
  • It is best planted in acidic, cool, light, humus-rich and well-drained soil and in a semi-shaded location. Although the variety is frost-resistant, it is advisable to plant it in a place protected from cold and dry winds in winter.

  • In mid-spring, large (up to 10-15 cm) panicle-shaped inflorescences of creamy-white bell-shaped flowers appear.
  • 'Forest Flame', like other pieris, should be planted in acidic, moist and well-drained soil, as, for example, for rhododendrons.
  • When flowering, we recommend carefully removing inflorescences that have already faded. Pruning is possible after flowering - in May-June. Frost resistance - up to -28°C. The variety is resistant to most pests that other Japanese pieris suffer from

  • It blooms profusely in April, and new leaves appear 3-4 weeks after the beginning of flowering. The bush is powerful, grows slowly, by 10 years it can reach 120 cm in height and 90 cm in width, then grows to a height of 200 cm.
